5 Easy Beauty Storage Hacks

As a beauty blogger, it’s fair to say that I have accumulated a lot of makeup and skincare products over the past couple of years, so organisation is very important. MakeSpace, an on-demand storage service approached me recently, wanting to have a peak inside my beauty room to see how I store everything. Since it’s recently been updated they couldn’t have asked me at a better time. And let’s be honest, I love writing posts like this and allowing you to peek inside! If you happen to have more products than I do and need to make some space check out their current storage locations, they are rapidly growing and changing the way cities view self-storage.

My little set up keeps everything in it’s rightful place, whilst some simple hacks make it all work. I’m always scanning through Pinterest for the latest ideas and creations on how to store beauty products and I’m excited to share what really works for me.

Shall we delve in?

1. Use clear acrylic as your main form of makeup storage

There are so many reasons why acrylic is just bloody brilliant. But the main two are that it’s easy to clean and you can see everything at a glance. Forget rummaging through drawers, trying to find that one product. Mine were extremely reasonably priced from good ol’ Amazon. Click here to watch my video on my entire makeup collection and storage. Reuse Ferrero Rocher chocolate boxes as a cheap alternative to store your glosses, mascaras and eye pencils.

2. Store your makeup brushes in pen holders

I love using these because they’re so easy to find. You can buy these from almost any homewear and stationery stores. Mine are from Paperchase and they’re the perfect size to hold all of my brushes. Not forgetting that the patterns are oh-so-pretty. I separate each of my brushes into three categories, eye brushes, large brushes and the ones I reach for most days.

3. Keep your palettes together in napkin or letter holders

Let’s face it, palettes take up a lot of room (especially if you have as many as I do), and I’ve found storing them upright to be the best method. My white napkin holder from Tesco and wooden letter holder from ASDA home does the job just perfectly. Who said you need to use things for their intended purpose?

4. Store cotton wool pads in an open jar

I store my cotton wool pads in a mini silver watering can from a local garden center. They’re easy to grab as I crawl into bed most nights to finish my skincare routine. Mixed with my Garnier Micellar Water they get the job done quickly. I store my cotton wool buds in a mini grey bucket that was part of a gift from a friend. They’re equally as easy to grab for those eyeshadow and mascara ‘oops‘ moments.

5. Keep all of your skincare items together in a hamper

This is by far the most effective way I’ve found to store my skincare items. I can see everything at a glance and there’s plenty of room for everything. Hampers are so reasonably priced too.
