Get To Know Brittany | Featured Blogger Friday
These Friday’s just keep coming along so damn quickly, don’t they? I’m all fired up to introduce a lovely new blogger to you. But first I must send my apologies for lack of posts and YouTube videos. I’m going to upload an update to why I haven’t been filming very soon. You know I’ll be back fresh as a daisy in no time at all.
This Friday we’re chatting to Brittany from The Sports Natural, a blog orientated around natural hair and beauty. Her blog began to help African-American women life an active and healthy lifestyle. A wonderful reason to begin writing in my opinion. The Sporty Natural brings the two worlds of fitness and haircare together by regularly posting tips & tricks, advice and discussions. So, let’s get to know Brittany.
Why did you start blogging?
I wanted to document my transition into the natural hair world. I follow a lot of natural hair blogs and I see all of these beautiful women that seem like they have it all together, and it’s so frustrating when my styles don’t work out the way that it did for them! Also, I discovered makeup and skincare, so my blog is a venue for all things hair and beauty.
Describe your blog in five words.
Natural hair and makeup addict
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
I follow natural hair and beauty gurus on YouTube and Instagram. My hair-spiration is Naptural85. She isn’t my “hair twin” but I just love her videos and her hair. My “lip-spiration” is Destiny Godley. She has such confidence in wearing bold lips!
How do you stay organised?
I am HORRIBLE at organization. Currently, I am free-balling (lol). I tried Google Calendar, an organizer, a day of the week, and none of those methods have worked. So as of now, I write when I get inspiration.
What type of posts do you enjoy reading the most?
I like haul and review videos/posts. I also like posts that focus on overcoming an issue. For example, I love finding ways to beat oil build up, or surviving the heat.
How often can we expect posts from you?
No promises, but lately I have been posting around 2-5 posts a month. But, I plan to dip into the video world, so I might post more as I make more and more videos.
What’s your favourite post to date?
BH Cosmetics Haul and Ipsy Offer!
What have you learnt in your time as a blogger?
I’ve learned that I have to post about what I am currently inspired by or proud of. Even as I look back at photos of hairstyles that I posted and think did I really think that was cute?!, I see growth in myself.
What advice would you give to someone starting a blog?
Blogs don’t grow overnight. Make small goals for yourself and be proud when you achieve them. Also, don’t wait until you “get better”. Start now because “better” will never come if you don’t give yourself a chance.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
I get the chance to talk about things that my friends can’t always relate to. And on the flip side, I can share advice that I get from friends that I think should be screamed to the world!
Which country are you from?
USA! USA! Haha.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Busy! I cycle and run, go to breweries, enjoy time with my new boo-thang (lol!), and whatever else friends can talk me into.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Travel through Europe with friends, travel through Europe with my mom, live overseas.
What do you do to relax?
Sit on my couch with my cats. (Is that sad?)
