Get to Know Rianne | Featured Blogger Friday
Happy Friday bloggers! I hope you gained a handful of useful tips from my latest piece of blog advice, ‘how to increase blog traffic by using keywords‘. I show you how you can increase the amount of readers coming to your site by simply using keywords, specifically targeting the two most popular search engines, Google and Pinterest. Woop.
This Friday we’re chatting to Rianne from Rianne Mitchell, a South London gal that by day works in the jewellery industry as a copywriter. She pursued her dream to start blogging and hasn’t looked back. Her blog content revolves around everything travel and beauty related. Head on over and have a good ol’ flick through her blog, I guarantee you’ll become addicted, (even more so than Rianne is to tea and coffee!). So, let’s get to know her…
Why did you start blogging?
By day, I work as a creative writer and after months of creating great content I just thought – I can do this for myself and have fun with it – so that was my initial inspiration and motivation to begin with. I’ve always wanted to blog, and after years of contemplation, I knew it was the right time because I needed to beat the feeling that I was living for my 9 to 5. I wanted to craft something entirely for myself – create something that I could be proud of.
Describe your blog in five words.
Sassy, fun, relatable & unapologetically me.
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
The more I blog it’s just great to have people reading and appreciating my content, it drives me to create new content that I would read in my spare time and that I’m proud of. I also gain a lot of inspiration from magazines, Fashion shows, makeup artists, cool websites and other bloggers.
How do you stay organised?
I literally carry my diary around with me ALL the time, it keeps me sane and organised. I write down weekly blog ideas, post themes and any Twitter chats I can get involved in. If you’re new to blogging, I recommend getting one as it’s a great way to keep all your thoughts and ideas in one place.
What type of posts do you enjoy reading the most?
Definitely Lush hauls… who doesn’t like those. Also, travel blogs as I would love to travel the world one day, it gives me inspiration of the types of places I want to visit, and of course makeup reviews.
How often can we expect posts from you?
I try to upload every day, but definitely at least 3 times a week – if work and life in general is super busy.
What’s your favourite post to date?
I think my favourite post has to be my ‘Lush vs MAC – Battle of the Highlighters‘ – It was really fun to put together, and it received loads of comments and support which was nice as I was so nervous to post it live.
What have you learnt in your time as a blogger?
Consistency is key.
Networking will open you up to amazing people and opportunities.
Life begins where your comfort zone ends.
What advice would you give to someone starting a blog?
Just do it, there’s really no time like the present. If you want to take ownership and grow something you can be proud of, take the chance, the blogging community is great. Also, if you have a passion for writing it’s a great way to hone your skills.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing has to be being part of a community that supports one another, reading other blogs, writing in my spare time about things I actually enjoy doing and have an interest in… and of course trying out loads of new beauty stuff.
Which country are you from?
I’m British, but my family originate from the Caribbean – Jamaica and Barbados.
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Either in bed with a creamy coffee and a brilliant movie, or out and about exploring a city and shopping!
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Do I even have a bucket list? I guess it’s just to live life to the fullest and enjoy everyday with people I don’t want to punch in the face, while doing things that genuinely interest and entertain me.
What do you do to relax?
I’m such a granny at heart, but honestly, I love to chill on my sofa with a big cuppa, a good movie or a Netflix series while digging into meal high in carbs. Or if I’m feeling in serious need of TLC, I love going to get a massage and facial.
