Get To Know Stef | Featured Blogger Friday
Afternoon, bloggers! There’s honestly nothing I love more than organising my beauty area to help me feel like I’m keeping my life together, you with me? That’s why I just had to dedicate my first ever eBay bargains post to everything makeup storage related. And without really meaning to, all of the items came in under a fiver. Bosh.

This Friday I am thrilled to introduce yet another English rose to you. The lovely Stef from ‘Sandy Stef‘ is a lover of pizza, die hard book reader and enthusiast for all things shabby chic. I’m with ya gurl. Her blog is a hub for all things beauty and lifestyle related, so expect tonnes of posts evolving around baking, rave reviews on beauty products and general life shenanigans. So, let’s dive in and get to know Stef.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging in my first summer at University! I had months ahead of me and thankfully no more deadlines so I thought I’d try blogging! I had actually tried 2 times before and failed miserably but I finally found WordPress which was the most accessible and easy to use platform in my opinion and this one stuck – third time really is a charm! Now, 9 months on, I’m loving (and impressed with) how far I’ve got with it!
Describe your blog in five words.
I’d probably go with…Beauty, Makeup, Lush, Books andddd Humour (I hope!)
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
I look to other bloggers to inspire me, and what I have around me! I first started up my blog to rant about Lush Cosmetic bath bombs after I’d bored my friend’s to death with pictures and reviews in facebook chat! I thought I should probably look for somewhere where everyone would appreciate me rambing on about beauty bits I love and that’s what I do – I’m inspired by something I love and then just rant and rave about it online! Motivation wise I’d probably say I’m one of those people who is really disappointed in myself if I don’t put my all into something – which probably keeps me motivated to put my all into my blog! I also get really motivated by other people’s blog style photography – it really gets me in the mood to try to achieve something that great.
How do you stay organised?
Lists. I list everything – to do lists, to buy lists, to blog lists, the lot. I make lists either on my phone in the notes section or in a notebook and I feel like having all your ideas in one place is a great outlet because you feel much more in control of what you have to do and when you have to do it. Before bed this is a great one too, I always find that that’s when I remember things or have ideas so I make sure to keep a notepad and pen handy for when inspiration hits at 2am.
What type of posts do you enjoy reading the most?
Hauls! I don’t know why but I love looking at what other people have bought, it really makes me want to go out and buy more bits and pieces – particularly homeware wise! Oh and baking – anything that looks delicious and includes a recipe!
How often can we expect posts from you?
Currently, I post twice a week – every Monday and Friday but this will change after May when my Uni workload is cut down! In the summer I like to post 3 times a week, with an extra post on a Wednesday.
What’s your favourite post to date?
It’s actually a really old one now but it’s one that I put a lot of effort into and felt really proud of! It’s my ‘Battle of the Nudes’ post back from May! I posted this in my first two weeks of blogging!
What have you learnt in your time as a blogger?
That it isn’t easy! When you first start you think of all these great ideas but times come where you have really dry spells and can’t think of anything. It happens to everyone but by now I’ve learnt that eventually it fades, you get inspired and you think of something and all is well in the world again. But also what I’ve learnt is that even if you miss a post, this network is so supportive and the people are really great for making you feel like you’re still doing a great job!
What advice would you give to someone starting a blog?
To keep at it, to keep to a routine but most importantly, do it because you want to or because you love it. After all, it’s a hobby we all share and we do it because we enjoy it! Some days you’ve got writer’s block or you’re struggling and it’s totally okay to take a day off.
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
Having something that I can be proud of that I’ve accomplished. I feel like I’ve really made use of my spare time to create something that’s pretty darn cool.
Which country are you from?
How do you like to spend your weekends?
Mainly sleeping, eating and relaxing with a Sunday dog walk!
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
I’m not a very adventurous person if I’m totally honest, I don’t really envisage myself jumping out of a plane or doing really anything including heights which leaves my bucket list quite…boring! Honestly my top three bucket list items would have to be: to own my own dogs (and hopefully more pets), to visit New York City at Christmas and to do some sort of work with an endangered animal!
What do you do to relax?
Youtube is my number 1 way to relax – I love love love catching up on my subscriptions and watching YouTubers, I find that it completely relaxes me and if I feel anxious it’s a great way to distract myself! Also I really love reading and getting totally absorbed in a book, especially on holiday!
