Get to know Hannah | Featured Blogger Friday
Morning guys! Today is a very special day. Not only am I introducing the lovely Hannah to you, but it’s the day of my Engagement party. Ever get the feeling you should have embraced that ‘I should probably go for a run’ moment, and just done it? Ever feel like you didn’t need to eat three whole Easter eggs? I suppose the most important thing is that the dress still fits! I haven’t dressed up in what feels like forever. So, since I have a completely office free day, I intend to spend my entire time progressively getting ready. If you could see me right now, you’d laugh *tightens rollers*.
So, as I mentioned, (before I got completely sidetracked), today we’re getting to know Hannah from Semi Functioning Human, another English rose! She’s brand new to WordPress, so pop over and say hello. You can expect to find lifestyle related posts including books she’s been particularly interested in, or what she’s been up to, and even some rather amusing posts such as her ‘things that drive us mad‘. So without further ado, let’s get to know Hannah…
Why did you start blogging?
I studied Creative Writing at university and I’ve written my entire life, but I was always nervous to own my writing, secretly scribbling away at my short stories in private. Suddenly I thought, why not me? My blog is my little corner of the internet where I can be creative and write about things I am interested in. I’d love it to become something that other people enjoy too and to meet other bloggers who have interests like mine.
Describe your blog in five words.
Just trying to be interesting
What helps give you inspiration/motivation?
I’ve always found it hard to be motivated by unattainable ideals…people on the television, award winning authors…people who may have come from a similar place as me, but now their success is untouchable. I’ve recently found the social media culture extremely inspirational: YouTubers, bloggers, people who seem to be like me who are available for us to contact, question and learn from.
How do you stay organised?
Oh god, I don’t. I’m a logistical mess.
What type of posts do you enjoy reading the most?
Anything a little bit cheeky and things that address the awkward and naughty things that I say in my mind. People that put themselves out there and celebrate not being perfect.
How often can we expect posts from you?
Something I’ve always done is write quickly so I would expect quite a lot. I am always talking (and therefore writing) so laws of averages mean I have to get it right sometimes, surely?
What’s your favourite post to date?
My favourite post is something I wrote a while ago about a feeling that’s very close to my heart – unrequited love. It’s called ‘Friend Zone’:
What have you learnt in your time as a blogger?
I’ve only just started out but so far I’ve learnt that this is going to be a huge learning process. I’ve also found that my biggest resource is going to be other bloggers and that everybody is extremely welcoming and ready to give me their advice.
What advice would you give to someone starting a blog?
All I would say is have confidence in yourself and don’t be embarrassed by it. Tell your friends and family you’re starting a blog and get used to people reading and enjoying your posts. Be proud of it. It’s got to be somebody, so why not you?
What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
The potential. It’s just me and a laptop, but look how far that can get you! The opportunities are endless and it’s just down to how much work I want to put in. I also love that it pushes me to get off my bum and do things – it makes me a much more exciting person! I can’t wait until I’ve put the work in and I can do things like interview interesting people and learn about them too.
Which country are you from?
How do you like to spend your weekends?
My day job means I have to work quite a lot of weekends but when I’m not I love to dance and read, and if I’m not feeling productive then watch youtube videos and eat Reeces Peanut Buttercups.
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
1. Sail the Whitsundays
2. Bear watching in Katmai National Park
3. Land a backflip on my skis
What do you do to relax?
Harry Potter marathon, obviously!
