Top 6 Favourite Makeup Products | Collab
As beauty bloggers, we are obsessed with products – scouting them, testing them, reviewing them. It’s safe to say that I have fallen head over heals in love with a selected few, favourites I pick up most days and repurchase over and over. I cannot believe in my whole year of blogging, I’ve never talked about these; more specifically my favourite makeup products of all time. So, I was thrilled when the every-so-lovely Sasha from As Found By Sasha suggested that we do this as a collab together, covering essential makeup pieces including favourite foundation, concealer, powder, mascara, lipstick and eyeshadow palette. My skin type is oily and Sasha’s is dry so I hope we each have something that will suit you. Head over to her post to browse through her top picks. In the meantime, here’s mine.
*I must apologise for my absence this week. I wasn’t going to upload on Sunday (Valentines Day) anyway, and coincidentally this was when my boyfriend chose to propose to me! But I also missed a couple of other posts I had planned. So it’s been a whirlwind of a couple of days but my feet are firmly back on the ground and I’m ready to plough on as usual. I’m going to talk about the proposal more in my video next Sunday so if you have any questions please leave them in the comments!*
1. Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer – £25.00
This foundation and concealer combined provides a very full coverage that really lasts and doesn’t weigh the skin down or feel ‘cakey’. It’s suitable for all skin types and it truly does make skin appear flawless whilst allowing it to still breathe comfortably. A little on the pricey side but I can forgive that. Clinique promise that colour stays true all day through sweat and humidity – however this is something we don’t really experience in England. It’s become my new favourite foundation and I can’t imagine a day without it. Have you tried it? Watch my full review and demo.
2. Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – £3.99
Not so long ago, I went on a hunt to find a highstreet or ‘drugstore’ concealer that matched the quality and coverage of the MAC Pro Longwear. I tried so many and a lot of them just didn’t do it for me, they were usually too orange or creased easily. I came across the Collection Lasting Perfection through recommendations on WordPress and I have not put it down since. It provides full coverage and can last up to 16 hours. I love to use it as an eye primer, highlight and to cover blemishes which was exactly what I was looking for. Read my full review.
3. Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder – £19.00
This powder is sold out everywhere right now – and for good reason too. Wonder how pro artists prevent makeup from melting away under the hot lights of a photo shoot? This is how; it’s a little miracle worker. It’s perfect for those with oily skin, like myself, because it absorbs excess oil and provides a matte finish. It contains Silica which blurs fine lines, while SPF 15 prevents sun damage. The second this comes back into stock, i’m buying a bulk load!
4. Barry M Showgirl Extra Volumising Mascara – £4.99
I was lucky enough to win this product in a giveaway. If you want a mascara that holds its curl and adds some ‘oomph’ to your lashes then let this be it. The super fat wand applies the product so effortlessly and coats all of my teeny weeny baby hairs too. I have been using it every single day and I love it.
5. MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick – £15.50
It was almost impossible to choose just one lipstick from my collection, but I went with the one I wear constantly. I even bought two, one for my handbag and one for my beauty area. Velvet Teddy by MAC is the perfect shade of pinked beige, I love it paired with a black smokey eye, or for a simple daytime look. The formula is super creamy, it applies effortlessly and the finish has a very soft sheen, but no shimmer. I’d say this is one of MACs most wearable shades for any skintone.
6. Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Palette – from $6 each
Makeup Geek (MUG) shadows are the most pigmented, most creamy, most versatile, most long-wearing (get the picture?) I have ever used. I have raved about these from basically day one on my blog and YouTube channel. Whenever I buy any other brand I’m often left disappointed, whether it be MAC, Urban Decay or L’oreal. This z-palette was fully customised by myself, I bought the shadows individually. Five of the shadows are from their foiled collection. Stay tuned for my full review (as well as swatches) on all of my Makeup Geek shadows coming very soon.
