20 Beauty Questions Tag

20 Beauty Questions Tag

I love nothing more than reading fellow bloggers answers to quick fire style questions that are all beauty related, so when Amanda Kerr (MakeupWithAk) tagged me to do the 20 Beauty Questions Tag I just couldn’t wait to give it a go. Head over to her blog for a nosey around. Have you done this tag? Copy and paste the questions (I’ve made it super easy for you by putting them altogether at the bottom) and answer them yourself on your blog or in the comments!

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
I was around twelve when I only ever used to wear black kohl liner on my lower waterline – how embarrassing. My favourite was by Bourjois but unfortunately it was discontinued. I still have a disheveled fraction of a pencil left but their new Kohl & Contour Eyepencil is just as good.

2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
A mascara that doesn’t clump, is the blackest of black, that lengthens but also thickens is something that’s proven to be very difficult to find. The closest i’ve come is the Clinique High Impact Mascara in black, but also more recently the Barry M Showgirl Extra Volumising Mascara. They both give me my desired lashes and are actually quite similar to each other in terms of the brush and application.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
I have suffered with redness and blemishes for years. When I reached twenty I thought those dreadful skin years were behind me, but I was wrong; my skin still needs care and coverage. I recently discovered the Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer from Clinique. It is my dream foundation. Have you tried it? It’s extremely full coverage whilst still being moisturising and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin (unlike the Estée Lauder Double Wear which my skin hated). Watch my review, first impressions and demo.

4. Favourite high-end brand?
I love Clinique and Origins for their skincare and MAC for their makeup. Watch my complete Clinique collection video. No other brand seems to have a range quite like MAC.

5. Favourite drugstore brand?
I am always purchasing products from NYX Cosmetics, Makeup Geek and more recently L’oreal. I feel like these brands have products of a similar quality to the high-end ones. Makeup Geek have the best eyeshadows I have ever used (yes, even better than MAC).

6. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?
My NYX Cosmetics Butter lipstick in Pops Explosif lives in my handbag for those quick ‘I need a top up‘ moments. As does the brush from Smashbox that’s included in the Step-by-Step Contour Kit, purely because I don’t reach for it at home so it’s kept on me incase of some kind of facial emergency.

7. What is your most cherished beauty product?
Right now it’s my Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette. You know when you get a product and you wonder how you ever lived without it before? If you haven’t tried it, please do and thank me later.

8. How often do you shop for makeup?
Too much. Let’s just say it’s my little obsession.

9. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?
If I didn’t have a beauty budget I would most definitely be out of control and living under a bridge somewhere, but at least my highlight would be on fleek.

10. What type of product do you buy the most of?
Without a shadow of a doubt, eyeshadows. I neglected my eyes for basically my whole life which is probably the reason i’ve gone a tad overboard more recently. My favourite eyeshadows are from makeup geek and I can finally purchase them in the UK from here.

11. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
It’s probably quite bad that I don’t often check if products contain certain ingredients. If companies promote that they never test their products on animals, like Lush, i’m more likely to buy from them than any other.

12. Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?
Sephora is my dream, but we don’t have them in the UK. I’d have to say Boots; I love their mixture of high-end and high-street or ‘drugstore’ products.

13. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
I love to try new products, I always have. And I feel it’s my duty as a beauty blogger to explore further out of my comfort zone. I’m always trying to improve my skin so trying new products is just something that comes along with that. I’m always switching up my routine depending on the time of the year but one product I use no matter the month is the Purity Made Simple Cleanser.

14. Favourite bath and body brand?
I absolutely love Lush. In 2015 I began to use their skincare and I was not disappointed. I’m addicted to their facial sprays especially this one. I also love their facial masks. Their products are made from totally natural ingredients but they’re still very effective.

15. Do you like multi-functional products like lip and cheek stains?
I’ve not bought a specific product for multi-functional purposes but I often use items from my collection for this. My bronzer becomes an eyeshadow, my lipgloss a highlighter and my eyeshadows a contour shade. I absolutely love playing with makeup like this and there’s always something you can substitute another product for!

16. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I tend to be very quick with my makeup and can mess up on certain things people often take more time over, for example liquid liner. Cotton buds and makeup wipes are always in reach.

17. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
I’ve basically always used YouTube as a makeup class, i’d love to give them a try though.

18. What do you love about makeup?
I love how makeup has no rules, how people can use it in their own way and how many products there are to play around with.

19. Dramatic or Natural Makeup look?
Always dramatic. I often don’t wear much makeup but if I had the time to doll myself up everyday, I totally would. One of the best things about going to a special occasion is the getting ready process.

20. Worst makeup-related habit?
Probably not cleaning my brushes enough and pulling my eye when I do winged eyeliner – don’t do it!

“Let’s just say it’s my little obsession.”
Fess up, makeup is not a LITTLE obsession! 😉
It’s funny that you wish for Sephora, and I wish for Boots and Superdrug! I’d love to have access to all those “high street” brands you have over in the UK.
Oh I SO agree about pulling the eyes when applying eyeliner – my friend does this and I’ve been trying to convince her to stop or else she’s going to get wrinkles! She won’t listen to me.
Thanks for tagging me! I did this tag a while back, here it is:

Haha! Yes I was under exaggerating quite a lot!

That’s funny. You always wish for what you can’t have I suppose. I do love Boots, but I feel there’s so much they don’t do that Sephora does. Do you have Lush?

Pulling my eyes is such a bad habit, i’m going to have wrinkles by the time i’m 30.
I’m heading over to have a read now. Xx

BRILL tag – can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to giving this a go!! Love little fun Q&A’s like this 😀 Already answering them in my head lol Heck we are sooooo alike – may as well just copy and paste most of yours lol Karen xoxoxox

    1. Clarina says:

Haha I love that! This tag was a very fun one 🙂 I do love a good old question and answer every now and then. Xxxxx

  5. Awesome answers and I’m planning to do the same within in a week’s time.

    1. Clarina says:

      Yay! 🙂 thank you.

  6. makeupwithak says:

Totally with you on not cleaning my brushes enough! One of my New Years resolutions is that every Friday, I take the time to clean them. It’s so important for so many reasons- like your putting that on your FACE!! It has to be clean. I’m hoping my skin will clear up a bit when I start this. I can’t believe the UK does not have a Sephora! It’s literally heaven on earth. Hopefully you get one soon! XOXO

    1. Clarina says:

That’s definitely something I should make a resolution! I clean them around once a month at the moment, it’s just not enough. My makeup area is always spotless, but not my brushes haha. Honestly – what is wrong with the UK?! When my mum and dad went to Florida on holiday I demanded they find a Sephora and get some Kat Von D makeup for me haha. Xx

      1. makeupwithak says:

It’s such a pain in the but to clean brushes! Ugh! But I know the benefit will be worth it. I honestly cannot imagine a life without Sephora! Glad your parents got you some stuff from Florida at least! XOXO

        1. Clarina says:

It is! Sephora doesn’t even offer free shipping to the UK or anything, so it’s mega expensive if I did buy anything. I feel like I need to email someone important at Sephora and ask for them to move here too :L Xx

          1. makeupwithak says:

Yes you do!!! It will change your life! XOX

  7. thanks for nominating me!! xoxo
