The Best Concealer Ever? | Review
You must know by now how much I love the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer (read my full review here). Its full coverage, creamy formula works like an absolute dream. But, it’s a high end product, therefore it comes with a hefty price tag. So, i’ve been on a mission to find a high street alternative that is as good. It proved to be quite a challenge, and after many purchases that were huge disappointments, I almost accepted the fact that I wouldn’t find one. However, my last resort was the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. And, this concealer has forced my MAC Pro Longwear to take a back seat in my collection. It’s clear how much it’s been loved, apologies for the shabby packaging.
“Conceals imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours. Water resistant and transfer proof. Multiple award-winning.” – Collectioncosmetics.co.uk
I like to apply the concealer in the way I would use any other, under my eyes with my fingers in a triangular shape and then blended out with the Real Techniques Setting Brush or a damp Beauty Blender. I also enjoy using this as an eye primer and then set with powder.
The main things I look for in a concealer are coverage, colour match and longevity. This multiple award-winning concealer (yes, apparently concealers can win awards) is available in four classic shades including Fair, Cool Medium, Warm Medium and Dark. Personally, I wish they did more shades because unless you’re the most common skintones, you are probably going to struggle to find the perfect match.
Let’s get the negativity out of the way first. The packaging is pretty appalling. It’s flimsy and the tube tends to clog up at the top, so when you screw the top back on, some product over spills and it becomes quite messy. I would leave this one out of your handbag! Not forgetting of course that the black lettering rubs off very easily. However, i’ve always said that if the products good, I don’t care about the packaging. This concealer is so cheap that it’s almost expected.
Lasting Perfection doesn’t smudge or worse, vanish. It truly lasts for up to sixteen hours and is very full coverage. It’s amazing at covering dark circles and areas prone to redness. It applies best with a synthetic hair brush or a damp beauty blender. Using the applicator it comes with gets messy and it’s very tricky to blend, let alone also being incredibly unhygienic, so I tend to avoid that.
Had a day in the rain? Cried because you’re so happy it’s Friday? It doesn’t matter! This concealer is water-resistant and does not budge. I’ve never had to top it up throughout the day, which of course everyone loves.
♥ Full coverage
♥ Creamy consistency
♥ Only four shades available
♥ Bad quality packaging
♥ Doesn’t crease or cake up
♥ Lasts for up to sixteen hours
♥ Multiple award winning
♥ Covers dark circles and redness
♥ Very cheap
9/10. The perfect concealer for me. It works like a high end concealer but the cheap packing just lets it down.
