Essential Makeup Products Worth the Splurge
I have always loved trying new products and I have recently made a few extra purchases that I’ve been really happy with. I wanted to show you the products that I believe are worth the extra cash that can be a part of your everyday essentials. Some of these products can be doubled up as another one too. So lets get started.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer – £25
I have never bothered with a primer. But I got this sample version of the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer and i’ve fallen in love. It’s oil free so perfect for us oily skinned people. If you watch my videos you’ll see how much I raved about it in one of them. It literally feels like you are applying warm silk onto your skin. This primer was a winner in the most recent Beauty Awards and is loved by bloggers.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation – £22
Foundation is probably the most important product to me. However I never feel like i’ve found the perfect one, like I’ve never found the perfect pair of jeans. This one from MAC is the best one for coverage and long lasting wear that i’ve found. It also has an SPF of 15 which is obviously a bonus.
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – £17.50
Concealer is another big one for me. I’ve tried just about every highstreet concealer and I was still left unsatisfied. I discovered the MAC Pro Longwear concealer and it quickly became a part of my everyday routine. It also doubles up as an eyeshadow primer because it has a technology in it that doesn’t make it crease or fall into all of the little lines on your face. I would recommend getting this in a shade lighter than your skin tone for that highlight effect.
Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder – £19
I wore Maybelline Stay Matte Powder for years. It’s cheap and cheerful and it did the job but because i’m very oily, it tended to brake up on my face and collect in areas that are more oily. My oil would also come through after a few hours of applying the powder. I tried MAC but that didn’t suit me either. I found the Smashbox Photo Set Finishing Powder and oh my gosh, it’s the best powder of life. It’s a matte, oil absorbing powder which really works. I am willing to pay the price again and again and again. Read my full review here.
Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Kit – £35
This powder contour kit is amazing. I’ve tried creams and powders from all over the place and this is the clear winner. The contour shade isn’t muddy and it blends really well. The highlight isn’t quite light enough for me to use as a highlight but I didn’t buy it for that. I use eyeshadow to highlight with.
MAC Lipstick in ‘MAC Red’ – £15.50
There are loads of amazing lipsticks available on the highstreet. L’oreal and No.7 have been my favourites recently. However, I think every beauty collection needs a classic red lipstick, and it’s worth splashing out on one. I have repurchased MACs ‘MAC Red’ many times and it’s my go-to red lip. At £15 it won’t break the bank. I find that I don’t repetitively have to apply this lipstick throughout the day and it doesn’t dry out my lips like other products tend to do.
Have you tried any of these products? Do you love them as much as I do?
